Deputies have arrested a suspect in Tampa, accused of gunning down another man in a crowd on Sunday night, near Morrison Park located on French Avenue in Fort Meade.
25-year-old Brandon Vershun Mays, was taken into custody in the pre-dawn hours and charged with the murder of 22-year-old Kentavis Ingram of Harmony Hills in Lakeland.
Witnesses told deputies they saw a man, later identified as Mays, shoot Ingram multiple times around 8:30 pm, on May 8th, in the midst of a crowd of about 300-400 people. Mays then discharged his firearm in the air and walked back to a dark colored, 90s model Monte Carlo, observed parked on Railroad Avenue.
Ingram suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Detectives said, Mays was in the Fort Mead area with several of his associates distributing fliers promoting Tampa area music events. They were able to locate him at a residence in the Turtle Creek Apartment Complex in Tampa.
Mays was taken into custody and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail. He is charged with felony murder.
