Susan G. Komen 17th Annual Race For the Cure

t460x279This Sunday, October 6th, the Central Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen® will host the 17th Annual Race For the Cure. As the largest community breast health contributor, 75% of funds raised at the race will go directly back into our Central Florida community programs. The other 25% will help fund breast cancer research. We invite all media outlets to come and cover this event or participate in the fun!

Who/What: Thousands of walkers, runners, supporters, and breast cancer survivors will gather to support the Susan G. Komen® foundation. Creating a sea of pink, the runners and walkers help encourage people currently struggling with breast cancer, celebrate those who have survived, and help promote awareness of the disease and the programs that Susan G. Komen® Central Florida Affiliate has available. At the front of the stadium will be fun activities like the Man Cave sponsored by Dick’s Sporting Goods, a kids’ interactive play area, an “In the Pink” tent for survivors, breakfast foods and smoothies for sale by Wawa, and much more. After the Race breast cancer survivors will be honored during our “Survivors Parade,” where they will be brought in, given roses, and celebrated with music, activities, and live speakers.

Where: University of Central Florida’s Bright House Networks Stadium.

When: Sunday, October 6th – Race begins at 8 a.m.

Why: As the largest non-government provider of breast-cancer screenings in Central Florida, we depend on donations to help us keep going. The annual Race For the Cure is our largest fundraising event of the year and is essential to our mission as a foundation. In addition to fundraising, the event also serves as an educational platform, helps raise breast cancer awareness, and encourages current breast cancer fighters and survivors.
