Student Cop Beating Nearly Covered Up (Video)

A University of Maryland student was brutally beaten by police officers of Prince George’s County, Maryland, on March 3rd, while celebrating his school’s basket ball victory and the officers almost got away with it.

Just released video (See Video Below)  shows John McKenna skipping down the road celebrating College Park Maryland’s win over Duke.  As he jigs down the road, McKenna comes face-to-face with two mounted police officers and backs away.  But immediately after, three officers charge McKenna and beat him more than a dozen times, leaving him unconscious and bleeding.

ABC reports that, McKenna’s lawyer, Chris Griffiths, says, “This is police brutality, pure and simple. Clearly, the charging document is a lie.  As you can see form the tape, there is not a single fact in that document which is true.”

The police in their sworn statement of charges said that, McKenna struck them and their horses and that his injuries were caused by the horses.  They described his injuries as “minor” and charged him with inciting a crowd.

ABC reports that photos show McKenna had a large gash on his skull which took multiple stitches and cuts and bruises over his body from the beating.

Police later dropped the charges against McKenna.

An investigation into the actions of the police officers is underway.
