State Troopers arrested 20-year-old Richard Figueroa late Wednesday night. They say he was behind the wheel of the car that slammed into an 18-year-old who was watching a street race last weekend.
A crowd of spectators was watching a street race on President’s Drive in Orlando when troopers say the driver sped off when police approached the race scene. During the frantic getaway, one of the race spectators, 18-year old Giovanni Perez, was hit and killed by a fleeing car.
The driver did not stop. Fortunately, one eyewitness remembered part of the vehicle’s license plate and that was all police needed to eventually track down their man.
