After a very busy 2022 Legislative Session ended, Orlando State Representative Anna Eskamani did not wait long to make her next run official, filing in a new house seat due to redistricting. Rep. Eskamani will now be running for Florida House District 42.
District 42 includes the town of Eatonville and the city of Maitland, but it does remove Rep. Eskamani from some parts of her old district. She will no longer be representing most of College Park and parts of North and South Semoran, but she also made it clear she will weigh in the elections to represent those voters.
“It’s been an honor to serve you these past four years and our office is always available to you — we will just no longer be on your ballot, and will definitely introduce you to the best candidate running to serve in those seats,” Rep. Eskamani emailed supporters.
Rep. Eskamani is one of the major voices of Democratic opposition in Tallahassee, especially during legislative session. While it was a hard session for the Florida Democrats, she is ready to return and continue calling out the conservative Republican legislation.
No other Democrats are currently filed to run in this state house district, but two Republicans have filed: Bonnie Jackson and Dianna Liebnitzky. Here’s the new Florida House District 42 map:
