State and local officials cut the ribbon on Thursday, to publicly unveil the newly constructed John Young Parkway/State Road 434 extension and flyover bridge.

At a cost of $41.8 million, the project features a new bridge over US 441 and Orange Blossom Trail and widens John Young Parkway from 4 lanes to six – three lanes in both directions – among others.

State transportation officials say, one of the major benefits of the new construction is, drivers now have a direct connection between John Young Parkway and State Road 434/Forest City Road for the first time.  In addition, it provides connectivity on the west side of Interstate 4 and will relieve traffic during I-4 construction.

Yesterday’s public unveiling/open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Rep. Randolph Bracy, Sen. Geraldine Thompson, Orlando City Commissioner Daisy Lynum, Alan Hyman FDOT Director of Operations D5, Eatonville Town Councilman Alvin Moore, among others.

The project is slated for completion next month.
