State Attorney R.J. Larizza is seeking the death penalty in a brutal Florida murder, stabbing a woman more than 40 times in Putnam County.
The State Attorney filed the notice of intent to seek the death penalty against defendant Lemar Beasley. The Putnam County Grand Jury indicted him on First-Degree Murder earlier.
The defendant is accused of stabbing a woman more than 40 times outside of a Fruitland store on November 14, 2025. The victim died from her injuries at the hospital.
“The defendant murdered our victim five months after his release from prison,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case. “He is a convicted sex offender. He is a violent career criminal. The brutal and merciless nature of this killing demands a death sentence.”
The North Florida murder case was investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant State Attorney Jason Lewis is the prosecutor assigned to the case.
