SRA Hosts Free Fall Prevention Workshops for Winter Garden Seniors

This October, Senior Resource Alliance – Central Florida’s Area Agency on Aging – will host a “Matter of Balance” fall prevention workshop for local seniors.

Falls Prevention Day is on Friday, September 22nd – a national health campaign observed on the first day of fall to increase awareness around falls health and injury prevention. With 36 million falls reported among older adults each year resulting in more than 32,000 deaths, Senior Resource Alliance (SRA) is taking action to protect Central Florida seniors.




fall prevention seniorsFrom October 3rd through October 26th, community members ages 65 and up are invited to participate in the free 8-session workshop here in Orange County, which will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at Jessie Brock Community Center in Winter Garden.

On October 3rd, SRA is kicking off its free 8-session “Matter of Balance” workshop at the Jessie Brock Community Center to help seniors overcome fears and reduce the risk of falling. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Oct. 3rd to Oct. 26th, Winter Garden seniors are invited to learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.

The Matter of Balance Workshop is designed to help seniors overcome fears and reduce the risk of falling.
