Southwest Almost Doubles Number of Cuba Flights from Tampa

For guests traveling to Cuba from Tampa, Southwest Airlines is dramatically increasing its daily nonstop service from TPA to Havana starting next summer.




Southwest currently flies the route once per day Sunday through Friday, and twice on Saturdays. Beginning June 4, 2024, the airline will increase frequency from TPA to twice daily all week, boosting the number of weekly nonstops from eight to 14.

Cuba Tampa flights“Tampa International Airport is thrilled with Southwest Airlines’ decision to expand its nonstop service to Havana,” Tampa Airport CEO Joe Lopano said. “The addition of these flights shows a commitment to serving Tampa Bay’s deep-rooted Cuban community, which will benefit greatly from the double-daily frequency.”

Travel to Cuba from the United States is restricted, with entries limited to travelers entering for reasons in 12 categories, including government work and family visitation. More information is available on the U.S. State Department’s website.

The Tampa Bay region is one of the top three largest population centers for residents of Cuban descent among United States metropolitan areas, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
