South Florida Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking

A South Florida man was arrested for drug trafficking after a fentanyl investigation.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) South Florida State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (S.A.F.E.) Task Force arrested the Miami man.

The investigation began when the South Florida S.A.F.E. Task Force received information that Eddie Antonio Muniz was trafficking methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) laced with fentanyl within Miami-Dade County.

The South Florida S.A.F.E. Task Force consists of agents and detectives with FDLE, Doral Police Department, Florida International University Police Department, Hialeah Police Department, Medley Police Department, Miami Police Department, Miami Springs Police Department and Sweetwater Police Department.

During this time, investigators observed Muniz conduct several drug transactions. FDLE and task force agents, with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives served a search warrant at Muniz’s residence and seized more than 15 grams of fentanyl-laced MDMA and a firearm.

The FDLE S.A.F.E. Task Force arrested 41-year-old Eddie Antonio Muniz, of Doral, on two counts of trafficking in fentanyl and one count each of armed fentanyl trafficking, possession of fentanyl with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. This arrest was a result of a S.A.F.E. investigation.

Eddie Antonio Muniz was arrested on multiple charges and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight (TGK) Detention Center in West Miami-Dade.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office of the 11th Judicial Circuit is prosecuting the case. The investigation remains active, according to law enforcement.
