Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives released surveillance video of two subjects involved in a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday, January 7th in West Park in South Florida.
According to local law enforcement, shortly before 2am, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a shooting at 2496 S.W. 57th Ave. BSO West Park District deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded.
On scene, deputies located Serdjy Hyppolite suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported Hyppolite to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. On January 9th, Hyppolite was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed the incident began at a Marathon Gas Station located at 5551 W Hallandale Beach Blvd. in West Park. According to investigators, an altercation occurred between Hyppolite and two subjects. Both men pulled out of the parking lot quickly in their respective cars.
The surveillance video shows the moment both vehicles arrived at 2496 S.W. 57th Ave. where the shooting took place. The victim’s vehicle is seen crashing into a pile of tires. The two subjects exit their vehicle.
One of the subjects is seen having a threatening confrontation with the victim. The altercation turns physical, and the victim is shot. The video shows the victim on the ground with one of the subjects hitting the victim repeatedly on the head before fleeing the area. Detectives described the subjects’ vehicle as a silver 2016-2017 Honda Accord Sport.
