So We Don’t Care About Mother Earth After All

I received a very disturbing email today regarding Solar Power and the state rebates!

AND HERE IT IS:

“The Florida Legislative Session has ended and our leaders returned to their districts without fulfilling a responsibility near and dear to your hearts and wallets.  As things stand, Florida’s only renewable energy incentive will retire at the end of June.  With nearly $30 million owed to more than 25,000 Florida families and businesses, the legislature chose to turn its collective back on each and every one of you by not considering the adoption of the “Solar Public Benefit Fund” or funding for the 30 million owed to you in rebate monies.

When this inaction is placed against the backdrop of the massive oil spill in the Gulf, the lack of leadership on Renewable Energy in Florida is stunning.

Quick and decisive action is needed to provide Florida leaders with a clear and unwavering message; it is time to do “the right thing” for Florida; by paying the money they owe to you, the highly regarded “Early Adopter” of modern Solar Energy.  By failing to provide you with the rebate monies, the legislature has created an active and robust base of 25,000 or more disenfranchised voters, not something any politician wishes to have this type of angst pointed against them.

To begin the process of making good on these promises, Representative Michelle Vasilinda of District 9 in Leon County is holding a press conference next week.  Please invite your local Representative and media to this event, enable your leaders to show leadership by attending this historic call and challenge for a Legislative Special Session on Renewable Energy.  The press conference is scheduled for the area inside the front of the Capitol at 11 am on Wednesday, 5/12/

Two weeks ago I got on the band wagon; called and emailed my State Representatives, Senators, and Congressmen pleading with them to include and pass the Solar Public Benefit Fund and keep their promise to the voters in Florida.  Instead they ended their session giving a tax credit to any and all that purchase a yacht over $300,000.  Where’s the logic?

I have a confession to make, in my 39 years as a registered voter, this is the first time I made the call and stood to be counted, that‘s how important solar energy is to me and should be to the rest of you.  Or maybe we should just sit back and wait for the next oil spill, it’ll happen.  Does anybody care?

I would be very grateful to one and all, please write, call or attend the press conference noted above and make a difference.

This is Elaine and let the sun shine in.
