Some employers would be barred from doing credit checks on potential hires as part of their decision on whether to give them a job, by a bill filed in the Senate by an Orlando Democrat.
The measure (SB 102), sponsored by Sen. Gary Siplin, D-Orlando, would only allow employers to request a credit history as part of the application process for a job if they can show that it’s directly related to the job opening. Even then, however, it still couldn’t be a “determining factor” in whether the person is hired.
