Yes, Orange County, WFTV, and others owe Rick Singh a huge public apology.
Orange County voters deserve an apology as well for this wasteful squandering of tax dollars.
You may recall, after a great outcry and wringing of hands regarding Singh’s management of the OCPA operating budget, the County Controller found nothing.
Zero. Nada. Zilch.
Keep in mind that this is the best run, best managed Property Appraisers Office in the County’s history.
According to the Florida Department of Revenue, Singhs office ranks 1st and 2nd in the state within the five categories used to rate efficiency. His predecessor with its ranking in the high teens.
On his watch, Singh has saved local taxpayers millions and millions of dollars while creating the most transparent and accessible property appraiser operation in the state.
This shameful, petty, racially motivated witch-hunt, against the “dark-fella” at OCPA serves as an ever present reminder of Orange County’s double standards and hypocrisy particularly in regards to race.
But before an apology, county officials should explain why this grotesque act of bigotry should not go unpunished for its arrogance and bad taste.
One of the county officials who was behind this attempted lynching is also a Democrat, elected the same year as Mr. Singh and is supposedly a progressive. He should be shamed into resignation.
Voters should demand an investigation. Better yet, “dark-voters” should ask themselves why this type of in your face racist behavior is tolerated at all.
Shame on Orange County.
