Shooting at Curtis Hixon Park Investigated by Tampa Police

Tampa Police are investigating a recent shooting that injured a man at Curtis Hixon Park.




On December 31, 2024, around 10:45pm, officers responded to the 600-Block of N. Ashley Drive for a report of shots fired.

According to police, an adult male security guard was shot during an attempt to disperse a large group of individuals riding electric dirt bike-style bicycles who were causing disturbances. The security guard was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. He has since been released and is continuing to recover.

As the investigation continues, detectives have obtained surveillance footage capturing several individuals riding similar style electric bikes around Gasparilla Plaza shortly before the shooting.

Detectives believe there may be a connection between the suspect and members of the group seen in the video. The footage is being shared with the public in hopes of identifying additional witnesses and gathering further information that may aid in this ongoing investigation:
