Shooter barricaded in house in drunken stupor

Orange County deputies are reporting that, two in-laws got into an altercation shortly after 2:00am Monday. At some point during the altercation, one man was shot in the leg. The victim was rushed to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to be released later Monday.

Police believed the shooter barricaded himself inside a home on Norfield Court, off Whisperlakes Boulevard near Orange Blossom Trail in south Orange County.  Investigators say that the victim told police the shooter was inside the home.

Just before 6:00am, a police negotiator arrived on the scene, attempting to communicate with the shooting suspect by using a bullhorn. The negotiator was speaking in both English and Spanish. Commands from the bullhorn could be heard echoing throughout the neighborhood.
