The Orange County Sheriff’s Office will hold a blood drive on Friday, February 21, in memory of Deputy Sheriff Scott Pine, killed in the line of duty last week.
Deputy Sheriff Pine was a blood donor and the decision was made to honor him with a special blood drive to call attention to the daily need for blood donation, a statement from the Sheriff’s office said.
“Scott acted bravely and gave his life, making a difference so others could sleep safely,” said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.
Sheriff’s deputies live on the front lines and they witness first-hand the critical need for our community to always have a ready blood supply. “That’s why we feel so strongly about letting everyone know about this ongoing need and how it can easily impact our department at any time” said Noel Beary, Orange County Sheriff’s blood drive chairperson.
Anyone in the community who is eligible to donate blood should stop by the Sheriff’s Department on Friday in honor of Deputy Pine.
