Sheriff’s Office Employee Arrested for Lying over Car Crash

A civilian records technician employed by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was arrested on Friday and charged with filing a false report with a law enforcement agency and making a false official statement.

Glenda Taylor, 34, was booked into the Orange County Jail following a criminal investigation that began on September 24, 2010.

Investigators said that Taylor allowed her boyfriend to borrow her car which was involved in an accident during the early morning hours of September 19. The investigation determined that Taylor, at her boyfriend’s request reported that the car was stolen, so he could avoid involvement in the car crash.

The insurance company claims adjuster, working on Taylor’s case notified the Sheriff’s Office on September 24, of the apparent crime when Taylor admitted that she had lied regarding the theft story.

The Sheriff’s Office determined that Taylor filed a fase police report and made false sworn statements during the investigation into the theft and have charged her accordingly.

Taylor, who joined the Sheriff’s Office in August 2007, has been relieved of duty without pay during the course of the investigation.
