Orlando City Commissioner Shan Rose is earning endorsements for her re-election in the District 5 race.
Commissioner Shan Rose earned endorsements from the SEIU Florida Public Services Union, the LIUNA labor union, and the Orlando Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1365 union.
The endorsements signal momentum in the local election. Commissioner Rose was excited to announce the support for her re-election campaign and had comments about each endorsement.
“I am proud to announce that I have been endorsed by Orlando Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1365,” Shan Rose said. “These brave men and women put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe—and I am honored to have their trust and support in my re-election for Orlando District 5 City Commissioner. I will keep fighting for the resources our first responders need to do their jobs and return home safely.”
Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 630 represents a wide range of workers, from sanitation specialists and equipment operators to IT technicians and accountants. LIUNA is a labor union known for advocating for workers’ rights and represents many of the City of Orlando employees. “Thank You LIUNA for your endorsement and support to be re-elected as the Orlando District 5 City Commissioner,” she said. “I look forward to a continued collaboration.”
Earning the support of city workers is a big statement in this race, as local government employees and unions know both candidates from elected office.
“Thank you SEIU Florida Public Services Union for your endorsement,” Commissioner Rose said. “It is truly humbling to have the trust of professionals who tirelessly keep our City Beautiful. I look forward to continuing to be a champion for the issues important to their work within the City!”
Commissioner Rose is running against suspended and disgraced Regina Hill, who was removed from this position by Governor Ron DeSantis because of multiple serious criminal felony charges against Hill. Hill still faces her criminal trial.
Rose was elected to fill the position as Interim Commissioner. Currently, Shan Rose and Regina Hill are the only candidates running in Orlando’s District 5 race.
