Shan Rose Announces Re-Election Campaign for Orlando District 5 Commissioner

Interim City Commissioner Shan Rose announced her re-election campaign for Orlando District 5 Commissioner.

“Our community deserves a leader who will continue to fight for honesty, integrity, and real change—someone who listens, takes action, and puts the people of District 5 first,” she posted announcing her re-election campaign. “That leader is me, Commissioner Shan Rose. I have been tirelessly advocating for our district and city, working to improve infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and ensure that every voice in our city is heard. From championing affordable housing initiatives to supporting local businesses and enhancing public safety, I have been making a lasting impact on the lives of District 5 residents and businesses.”

Orlando Commissioner Shan Rose Shaniqua “Shan” Rose became Interim Commissioner after Regina Hill was suspended from public office by Governor Ron DeSantis. Disgraced former Commissioner Regina Hill also faces multiple criminal felony charges and an upcoming trial.

Shan Rose kicked off her campaign with a message of continuing to build District 5 together and celebrated her wins while gearing up for the re-election battle to come.

“Over the past term, we’ve proven that progress happens when leaders listen, act with integrity, and put people first,” Orlando Commissioner Shan Rose posted. “From improving public safety to expanding community resources, we’ve moved the needle-but the work is far from finished.”

She said the upcoming campaign is not about her or other individuals, but about making progress on top priorities which she listed:

  • Protect affordable housing initiatives
  • Invest in cleaner, safer streets
  • Ensure every voice in District 5 is heard

Regina Hill did file paperwork to run for Orlando Commissioner in District 5 again, even with her looming criminal trial. Currently, this race only has the two Commissioners facing off against each other. Shan Rose raised $1,900 in monetary contributions and just under $4,000 of in-kind contributions. Regina Hill had not received any contributions according to her first financial filing since announcing her campaign.
