An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested early on Sunday morning and charged with domestic battery, a statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputy Sheriff James Knepper, 31, was taken into custody by police near Hughey Avenue and Central Boulevard on Sunday just before 2:00 a.m., after it was determined he was involved in a domestic battery incident with a woman.

A police sergeant heard a loud disturbance and upon investigating determined Knepper, who was off-duty, to be involved.  Knepper was arrested and charged with domestic battery.

Knepper has been relieved of his law enforcement status and reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the Orlando Police Department charges, the statement from OCSO added.
