Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner said his office has a plan to “refresh” the state’s outdated voter registration system by July, heading off potential problems that could threaten the 2016 presidential election cycle.
With concerns raised by county elections supervisors statewide, Detzner reportedly told lawmakers his office has ordered computer hardware and a new voter system will be operational by July, according to Herald Tribune.
Florida’s Voter Registration System has been known to crash, sometimes for several days and reportedly, there’s no adequate backup. If it crashes, thousands of eligible voters would be forced to cast provisional ballots, heraldtribune.com also reported.
