Florida Senator Marco Rubio held a roundtable discussion in Clay County with local Sheriffs from Clay County, Nassau County, and Suwannee County, and other members of the law enforcement community, to discuss how the ongoing fentanyl crisis is affecting Florida communities.
Senator Rubio heard from law enforcement about how overwhelming the problem has become in Florida. The Republican Senator also emphasized the risks associated with deadly fentanyl, saying the drugs are not FDA approved and you never know what is mixed with the drugs and how much is in it.
Senator Rubio called for more federal resources and cooperation between local, state, and federal agencies to stop the spread of fentanyl. Earlier this year, he sent a letter to Secretary Blinken urging him to hold China’s genocidal regime accountable for its role in the fentanyl crisis.
