Florida Senator Rick Scott visited Taffer’s Tavern in Orlando with Jon Taffer himself and talked jobs.
The Florida Senator released the episode of his ‘American Dream at Work’ series featuring Jon Taffer, entrepreneur, reality TV producer, and owner of Taffer’s Tavern in Orlando.
Taffer sat down with Senator Rick Scott to discuss his American Dream, the difficulties facing small businesses, how government can get out of the way to fuel economic growth, and the impact of recent legislation, like the No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime provisions in President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts.
As part of his American Dream at Work series, Senator Scott is highlighting the stories of Florida entrepreneurs, their businesses, and the incredible work they’re doing to grow jobs and contribute to their communities. Senator Scott lived his American Dream, from growing up in public housing, to starting a family, building businesses, being elected Governor of Florida, and U.S. Senator. He said he continues working tirelessly to ensure every American has the same opportunity to live their American Dream.
“I was lucky to grow up in a time where anybody willing to work hard could achieve their American Dream,” Republican Florida Senator Rick Scott said. “I could open my donut shop and get to work to make a better life for myself and my family. Now, government’s burdens have made owning a business more difficult. Jon Taffer knows, both from his own businesses and his work with others, what makes it hard for people to succeed these days.”
At the Central Florida location, Jon Taffer spoke about his own business experience and how government impacts businesses with the Senator. Taffer also thanked President Donald Trump for No Tax on Tips and said it makes an impact.
“We both know that a business’s success and its failure can be determined by something as simple as one insurmountable government regulation, a few days, or a few hundred dollars,” Senator Rick Scott said. “During my visit to his restaurant in Orlando, we discussed how government needs to get out of the way and regulations need to be rolled back so that more hard-working American men and women can achieve their American Dreams, too. When I was elected, I promised to fight to Make Washington Work – which means shrinking government, cutting taxes, reducing spending, and supporting small businesses. I will keep fighting to make sure people like Jon have the freedom to help businesses grow, create good-paying jobs that help families succeed, and ensure every American can achieve their American Dream.”
