Senator Ashley Moody secured nearly half a billion dollars in FEMA public assistance funding for Florida.
Following a meeting with the Department of Homeland Security on January 30th, Senator Ashley Moody announced that nearly half a billion dollars in FEMA public assistance funding for Florida will be approved and released immediately.
“I am proud to announce that following a very productive meeting with the Department of Homeland Security, we’ve secured a commitment for nearly a half a billion dollars in FEMA public assistance funding to be released immediately,” Republican Senator Ashley Moody said. “This is much needed for Floridians following devastating storms over the past few years. I will never stop working for a Stronger, Safer Florida.”
Because of Senator Moody’s advocacy, DHS has approved funding for 535 public assistance projects totaling $480,952,894.48. The 535 projects included in the package span 14 disasters declared some of which have been unfulfilled for years.
FEMA’s Public Assistance Program provides supplemental grants to state, tribal, territorial, and local governments so communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies.
