Seven finalists participated in the Florida 4-H Public Speaking Seminole County Competition, presented by Florida Power and Light (FPL) earlier this month in the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners Chambers. Over 2,000 sixth-grade students from schools throughout Seminole County participated in the program this school year to gain experience in preparing and delivering a speech.
County finalists included:
- Calem Anthony, Jackson Heights Middle School with “Roller Coasters”
- Parth Arora, Lawton Chiles Middle School with “PHOF”
- Macy Bentley, The Masters Academy with “The Road Trip”
- Nathan Kreuzer, Holy Cross Lutheran Academy with “The Benefits of Space Exploration”
- Parsah Mohebpour, Markham Woods Middle School with “Why No Sleep”
- Abigail Rawls, Double R Private School with “Self Confidence”
- Caylin Rogers, All Souls Catholic School with “Quitting My Passion”
The first place winner was Macy Bentley; second place, Parsah Mohebpour; and third place, Parth Arora. Winners were determined by judges from FPL and Seminole County Government.
4-H Public Speaking is a school enrichment program from UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County. With teacher guidance, students work on a speech topic of their choice. The program culminates in classroom and school competitions, where the top speaker from each school is invited to enter the countywide competition.
