Seminole County Reopens Upgraded WIC Office

The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County will be hosting a Grand Re-Opening Celebration at the newly renovated Women Infants and Children (WIC) Program Office in Casselberry on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

The new and improved WIC office is located in the Greater Marketplace shopping center at the corner of Sausalito Blvd and SR 436 in the space formerly occupied by the Seminole County Health Department Dental and Immunizations clinics.  The new WIC office provides a more spacious work area with room for future expansion.  The client waiting area features active toys for children and is flooded with natural light.

“The project was completed with thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, state and local WIC leaders, Casselberry WIC staff and Seminole County employees,” said Dr. Swannie Jett DrPH., Health Officer.

“We are very pleased to welcome the public to our new location and hope that our clients find the new space comfortable and convenient,” says Susan Mulligan, Public Health Nutrition Program Manager of the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County WIC Program.

Exciting things have been happening for WIC in Seminole County, but even bigger things are on the horizon. WIC leaders in Tallahassee continue to prepare for the statewide rollout of Florida-WiSE (FL WIC Information System & EBT) over the next 6 months.  The new system will completely overhaul how WIC works.  With FL WiSE, staff will enjoy a modernized computer program. Clients will enjoy the convenience of using an EBT card to purchase their WIC foods instead of WIC checks.  Seminole County will go live with FL WiSE on February 3, 2014 along with the rest of the I-4 corridor.
