Seminole County gears up for American Education Week

Seuss13Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is seeking community leaders to participate in the SCPS Teach-in on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in honor of American Education Week, November 18-23, 2013.

American Education Week is an annual national celebration of public education. The Foundation for SCPS, along with our sponsor Orlando Sentinel, is proud to invite all Central Floridians to visit one of our many schools throughout the district to commemorate this special week by participating in the SCPS Teach-In.

Parents, business leaders, and community members can help enhance instructional learning by going into a classroom for an hour or for the entire school day. Presenters can read a book, tutor a student, or talk about their career, travels, and hobbies.

To participate in SCPS Teach-In 2013, guests must be a registered volunteer. The online application is available on the district web page www.scps.k12.fl.us. In addition, all presenters must be a registered Dividends. Registration clearance will take approximately 10 days. After registering and once cleared, each guest presenter will be contacted by a school coordinator regarding their assignment.
