The driver of a semi tractor trailer rear ended a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle on I-95 on Tuesday, then fled the scene, Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP said, Sgt. Jeffrey Holmes, of Deland was heading northbound on I-95 near mile marker 233, driving under the posted speed, when he was rear-ended by a semi tractor trailer. Sgt. Holmes who was driving around 5:10 a.m., was doing so under the posted speed on account of poor visibility.
Troopers said, the driver of the semi then fled the scene after the crash.
While the FHP patrol car received significant damage, the semi tractor trailer should have right front damage.
Sgt. Holmes sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
