Saturday afternoon Bill Segal, candidate for Orange County Mayor wrapped up his tour of 40 small businesses in 40 hours. From a digital media start up company in Downtown Orlando, to a feed store in Winter Garden, to “The Fun Spot” theme park on I-Drive, Segal was able to listen to how small business owners and workers are weathering the tough economy and what might prompt the small businesses to start hiring new workers.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” Segal said. “When they’re doing well, they will start hiring and my number one priority is seeing more jobs in Orange County.”
Segal started Friday morning in Downtown Orlando. He moved on to Parramore, Pine Hills, Apopka, Winter Garden, International Drive and Dr. Phillips. Saturday he traveled to Winter Park, College Park, Avalon Park and Baldwin Park.
Supporters were able to follow the small business tour on Segal’s Facebook fan page, Facebook.com/SegalforMayor. Segal took a photo with the owners while holding a number that indicated how far along he was on the tour of 40 businesses.
Segal has stayed focused on small business during his campaign for Orange County Mayor. His 27 point ‘Segal Jobs Plan’ offers a property tax rebate to small businesses that create a new, full-time job that offers greater than the median wage.
Today is the last day to early vote. Election day is Tuesday, August 24th. If no candidate receives greater than 50% of the vote, the top two finishers will move on to the November 2nd election.
