Second “Stand Your Ground” Task Force Meeting Announced

The second meeting of the Florida Task Force on Citizen Safety and Protection will take place on Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 at the Northland Church, located at 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, Florida, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Task Force, established by Governor Rick Scott in the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin shooting, will spend the morning debating Chapter 776 of the Florida Statutes, which includes the infamous “Stand Your Ground” Law. The task force is led by Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll. Senator Gary Siplin (D-Orlando) serves as a member of the task force.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the Task Force will open the floor for public comment. All Floridians in the Central Florida area urged to attend. This meeting provides an opportunity for the public to address their concerns to government officials and community leaders about the “Stand Your Ground” Law and how the statute has affected their communities.
