The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested another individual in connection to the shooting of an off-duty ATF agent.

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 11:07pm, HCSO’s Communication Center received a call of a shooting at The Alley at Southshore, located at 10221 Big Bend Road in Riverview near Tampa.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office previously arrested 18-year-old Christopher Smith following the Central Florida shooting.
This month, Heyward was taken into custody after an arrest warrant was obtained and is now facing charges of Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm, Great Bodily Harm (Accessory After the Fact), Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm/Death (Accessory After the Fact), and Simple Battery (x2).
“Our detectives have worked tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for this senseless act of violence are held accountable and face the consequences of their actions,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our prayers remain with the ATF agent as he courageously embarks on his road to recovery. His bravery and selflessness exemplify his dedication to protecting our community.”
This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
