Search for NFL players to end at sundown, Fear Drowned

Coast Guard spokesman Captain Tim Close announced, in a press conference at 4 p.m. Tuesday, that they will suspend their search for three missing boaters in the Gulf of Mexico at sundown today.

Captain Close said that the Coast Guard is suspending the search due to a lack of confidence that the boaters could have survived this long.

Close did say that they found a life jacket and a cooler floating in the Gulf near the search area, but still have not found any signs indicating that the three men are still alive.

The Coast Guard has been searching for the missing boaters since the initial call was placed nearly 60 hours ago, around 5 o’clock on Saturday. According to Nick Schuyler, who was rescued by the Coast Guard, the boat capsized nearly 8 hours before that call was made.

Close says that amateur searches may continue, but urges caution to those who decide to continue looking for the missing boaters.

The search has spanned a total of 24,000 square miles since it began.
