Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday signed one of Space Florida’s top legislative priorities into law, one of the first bills to emerge from the 2012 legislative session in Tallahassee, floridatoday.com reports.
The bill amends Florida Department of Transportation’s definition of launch support facilities to match the broader federal definition, which includes not only launch pads and control centers, but assembly and processing facilities.
The tweak to the bill would allow federal and state funds for infrastructure upgrades to go to spaceports in Jacksonville and the Space Coast.
