Scott Sued for Understating Assets by Millions

Gov. Rick Scott is being sued by George Sheldon, Democratic candidate for attorney General, for grossly understating his net worth, The Palm Beach Post, reported.

According to the Post, Scott’s financial disclosures show a net worth of about $133 million controlled by a blind trust. However, Scott is worth hundreds of millions more, based on separate documents filed with the federal Securities and Exchange Commission, according to Sheldon.

“The people of Florida don’t really care whether Gov. Scott is worth a hundred million or $300 million or $800 million,” said Sheldon. “What they care about is being able to determine whether he has a personal financial stake in the decisions he makes as a public official.”
