Gov. Rick Scott on Friday issued an executive order establishing a ‘Blue Ribbon Task Force on State Higher Education Reform.”
The task force is charged with assessing strengths and weaknesses of State University System’s governance model; review and analyse efforts to achieve national preeminence and academic and research excellence and make recommendations aimed at encouraging cooperation between institutions leading to improved efficiencies, among others tasks.
“It’s time to assess the progress of prior reform efforts and identify strategies to improve efficiencies and enhance the system’s effectiveness as an economic catalyst,” Scott said in a statement upon issuing the order.
Chaired by Florida Chamber Foundation President Dale Brill, the seven-member task force will report no later than November 15, 2012.
The panel will hold a series of University campus workshops beginning on May 30 through June 27, according to its new website, Florida Blue Ribbon Task Force.
