Scott Calls for Leadership Review at Florida State College

Gov. Rick Scott is calling for a review of leadership at Florida State College at Jacksonville, the Florida Times-Union reported Monday.

Officials learned in the spring that the college wrongly approved $4 million worth of financial aid that it now owes to the federal government, along with a half million dollar penalty.

The college also has been reviewing spending by President Steve Wallace, and the Board of Trustees has restricted certain spending.

The Times-Union asked Scott about the problems and he responded that the “the leadership of the college, from the top down, must be seriously reviewed.” Scott also said that when the board of trustees holds its October meeting on Tuesday he’s confident it will take whatever action is necessary.
