Adam Lanza’s DNA is to be studied by scientists to determine if an ‘evil’ gene led to his slaughtering nearly two dozen kids and half-a-dozen adults, Mail Online reports.

The study, ordered by Connecticut’s Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver, will seek to determine any abnormalities or mutation in his individual DNA.  It is believed to be the first ever study of its kind.

Lanza, 20, shot and killed his mother, Nancy Lanza on December 14, before heading to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut, where he opened fire killing 20 children and six adult educators and staff.  He then turned the assault rifle on himself and took his life, as first responders arrived on the scene.

Geneticists at University of Connecticut have been conducted to undertake the study, Mail Online also reported.
