Schools Participate in “Pinwheels for Peace 2010”

Several Orange County Public Schools will participate in “Pinwheels for Peace”, an international art and literacy project, on September 21st.

Also known as a tribute to “whirled peace”, students participate by creating and planting hundreds of pinwheels to adorn their school campus for International Day of Peace. Students express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives by writing messages and quotes that will line a path in a field of colorful pinwheels.

Thousands of pinwheels are expected to be planted across Central Florida for “whirled peace.” After the art exhibit is complete, students will be able to walk the completed path of peace.

Thornebrooke Elementary School and Stone Lake Elementary, are slated to participate in “Pinwheels for Peace”.
