School Board Chairman Joie Cadle, Superintendent Ronald Blocker and Classroom Teachers Association President Michael Cahill signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Florida’s application for the second phase of the federal Race to the Top (RTTT) grant competition.
Florida should be a strong candidate for the federal funding due to its demonstrated reform history, nationally acclaimed progress and the collaborative process of the Governor’s Working Group to revise the application. Superintendent Ronald Blocker was a member of that group.
The school board approved the MOU during its last board meeting.
The signed MOU is due back to the Department of Education by May 25, 2010. The announcement on the state or states that will receive federal funding through RTTT Phase 2 is expected in September.
