Orange County School Board members approved names to accommodate growing student enrollment for three elementary schools, one middle school and one K-8 school. The names were chosen by the school community, which provided name suggestions and voted on finalists. OCPS will have 210 schools next year, up from 205 this year. The schools represent a $156.2 million investment in students by the community.
A middle school and adjacent elementary school in the Horizon West Town Center area were named Hamlin Middle and Hamlin Elementary.
An elementary school across from Horizon High School in Horizon West’s Village F North area was named Panther Lake Elementary.
An elementary school in the Meadow Woods/Boggy Creek area was named Stonewyck Elementary.
And a kindergarten through eighth-grade school in the Wolf Lake area of Apopka was named Kelly Park School.
