Juniors Peter San Pedro and Cooper Vissers, who advanced to the Men’s Tennis State Tournament after capturing the District Championship in line one doubles competition, kept their title dreams alive with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Lake Brantley yesterday to advance to this morning’s semifinal round against Gainesville Buchholz. However, top-seeded Buchholz was no match for the Panthers as SanPedro and Vissers won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. They will face the winner of Vero Beach and Miami Columbus later today for the right to play the team doubles champions for the State Championship. Since they earned their way in as individuals and their team did not advance, they compete against other individual qualifiers and then must defeat the doubles champions from those that entered with their full team. San Pedro is seeking his second consecutive State Championship after winning the line three title in 2011.
