In most American cities, a Sam Ings wouldn’t be tolerated.
Best described as aloof, distracted and incompetent as a politician, Ings and his sense of self were put to the test the moment WFTV revealed what’s been known in the hood for months:
Former OPD Captain and sitting Commissioner for Orlando’s District 6 is a “baby daddy.”
A stingy baby daddy, if you believe the child’s mother, Solethea Sparks.
The ‘baby momma,’ as she is affectionately referred to in District 6, says Poppa Sam is denying child support as well as paternity, despite the 99.99 percent accuracy rate of state paternity tests.
A Samuel B. Ings lovechild. Uh-oh. Here comes the lawsuit.
To make matters worse, Ings, who is trying to retain his seat in District 6, faces voters on April 3rd, while his campaign is targeted in an ongoing criminal investigation of voter fraud.
Orange-Osceola State Attorney Lawson Lamar smells a rat.
Orlando is well known for its of antics and political shenanigans.
You know the nonsense: NBA All-Star Fence Out, sweetheart real estate deals, Community Venues delusions, UCF’s Creative Village fantasies. The list could go on and on.
But, even more stunning is the silence amongst Orlando’s Political class. The silence is deafening. Where are the calls for Mr. Ings to step down. Where are his explanations?
West Orlando News and The Don Miller Show were the first to call attention to the absentee ballot game. Mr. Ings has failed to answer for his indiscretions.
And now this.
Sadly, this may not be the political end of Samuel Ings due to overwhelming church support, but it needs to be. Anyone witnessing his performance in City Hall will attest to his being in over his head.
Despite this, his chances for re-election are better than 50-50.
Amazingly, the tradition of electing ineffective Commissioners with very, very bad judgment in Districts 5 and 6 is an old Orlando tradition.
If, Ings is re-elected, it will sadly confirm another.
