A south Florida doctor has been arrested and his unlicensed pain management clinic closed, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Florida Department of Health and Miami Investigative Services announced on Tuesday.
Dr. David L. Packer was taken into custody and charged in connection with operating an unlicensed pain management clinic, Liberty Wellness Center.
On November 2, 2010, an anonymous telephone complainant alleged that Liberty Wellness Center, at 6116 NW 7th Avenue in Miami was operating an unregistered pain management clinic. The complaint was forwarded to the Department of Health and an investigation did confirm that Liberty Wellness was in fact operating as an unlicensed Pain Management Clinic.
On December 28, a joint inspection of Liberty Wellness Center was undertaken and a Cease and Desist notice served on Dr. David L. Packer, Liberty’s owner and sole medical practitioner, at the conclusion of the on-site investigation.
Dr. Packer was arrested and charged with operating a licensed pain management clinic, a third degree felony.
