Runaway Car Strikes Mother, Toddler, Crashes into Home

A mother is in serious condition and her 3-year-old son suffered minor injuries, after the two were hit by a runaway car that ended up crashing into the front of a home on San Remo Road.

The crash happened just after 8:00 a.m. on Monday, near Floridian Drive in Osceola County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said, 32-year-old Michelle Renaud and her son, Joshua, 3, were standing at the corner of San Remo Road and Floridian Drive when they were hit by a 2000 Acura driven by Olga Hilaire, 50, of Kissimmee.

It is not clear why Hilaire lost control of the vehicle, but she traveled into a ditch, across Floridian Drive and into the front yard of the house at 601 Floridian Drive, after Renaud and her son were struck.

Hilaire ended up traveling inside the front of the house, which troopers said, received significant damage.

Michelle was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, but is listed in stable condition. Joshua sustained minor injuries and he was also taken to ORMC.

Hilaire suffered no injuries as a result of the crash.
