The Central Florida community is invited to join Rollins in honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a week-long series of free and educational events beginning Jan. 16, 2012.
The annual King celebration affords the Rollins and Central Florida communities an opportunity to reflect upon the past while also looking towards the future. The events will honor Dr. King for his work toward equality and economic justice for all people and his commitment to nonviolence.
The signature event of the week features the Gospel for Teens Choir in Harlem, which is part of an arts-education program that has received extensive recognition in the news media, including “60 Minutes.” Last year, the students from Gospel for Teens performed with Madonna on the Hope for Haiti Now Telethon. Their performance at Rollins College will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 6 p.m. at the Alfond Sports Center.
