A little over one week ago, Rollins College, Florida’s oldest recognized college, kicked off a campus-wide event “Rally Rollins”, in celebration of 125 years of athletic heritage and school spirit. This inaugural event, widely-attended by faculty, staff, students and guests, featured a ceremony honoring the Class of 2010 athletes, followed by much-anticipated performances by popular comedians, John Heffron and Dean Edwards.
“We invite you to join us as we celebrate 125 years of history, tradition, and excellence in education”, Lewis M. Duncan, Rollins College 14th President said in a statement. “This anniversary marks a significant milestone in the College’s history and we are honored to acknowledge the accomplishments of all those who have so exceptionally served Rollins.”
Rollins College will continue its celebratory activities through the end of February with a ‘Holt Alumni Event-The American Dream Defined’ which aims to reconnect professors with former classmates; a lecture by Barrymore Lawrence Scherer, author editor and music critic for the Wall Street Journal; and an anniversary mass at which the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park will be featured, among other events.
