Twenty-seven students of the Robinswood Middle School Chorus, under the direction of Christy Collins, recently visited New York City to perform and tour.
The students performed at several historic sites including, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Trinity Church, and the World Trade Center reconstruction site (aka Ground Zero), to the delight of local residents and international visitors.
In addition, students were able to visit several historic landmarks across the city and gain an appreciation for the history and vibrant mix of cultures within the city. They also visited Battery Park, with its views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Freedom Tower, which is still under construction at Ground Zero.
Other destinations on the trip included Times Square, China Town, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Station, Harlem, Rockefeller Center and the 9/11 Memorial. Then there was the Shubert Theatre on Broadway to watch the play Matilda and a visit to Good Morning America, where they were personally greeted by hosts, Josh Elliot and Robin Roberts.
