Gerard Robinson, Florida Education Commissioner and Dr. Barbara Jenkins, OCPS Superintendent will share the spot light the upcoming 2012 Latino Family Conference carded for August 3.
Both educators agree that family involvement and parental engagement in their children’s education is the key to academic achievement. Jenkins will open the 2012 Latino Family Conference by addressing parents, students and education professionals. During lunch, Robinson will give a keynote address.
In the best interest of Central Florida’s community, we are calling on all interested parties to partake in the 2012 Latino Family Conference taking place at the Valencia College – East Campus.
“I have worked with families for a long time, getting to know their major concerns; EDUCATION ranks number one in their agenda. This year the Conference will accentuate the importance of the family engagement in children’s academic achievement,” expressed Marytza Sanz, President/CEO of Latino Leadership.
Organizers are anticipating an open and frank discussion about Latino parents’ responsibility in their overall family success.
