A lawsuit in the alleged hazing death of a member of Florida A&M University’s iconic Marching 100 band is set to be filed Wednesday, according to a spokesman for the family of drum major Robert Champion.
Champion was allegedly beaten to death last year in a ritual hazing on board a charter bus during a band trip to Orlando.
Ryan Julison, the family spokesman, said Tuesday that the Champion family was required to wait at least six months to file a lawsuit against FAMU, but that new information had also delayed the suit.
“It seems like there’s additional information revealed almost on a weekly basis,” Julison said.
